Sand Plant Exhaust Ductwork

Sand processing plants generate enormous volumes of fine airborne silica dust, which is one of the most regulated and hazardous particulates in industrial environments. Exhaust ductwork is a primary line of defense between a compliant, operational plant and a potential costly shutdown.

We understand that what makes sand plant ductwork particularly demanding is the abrasive nature of the material moving through it. Poor weld quality or incorrect geometry at the elbows can accelerate wear.

This particular project — exhaust ductwork fabrication and replacement for a sand plant in Voca, Texas — was complex. It included a multi-floor installation connecting multiple workstations back to a central baghouse. The scope ranged from 4-inch diameter branch lines ot 30-inch diameter main trunk lines, all fabricated from carbon steel. That range of diameters across a multi-level system requires precise layout and consistent fabrication to maintain the airflow velocities needed to keep particulate in suspension through the duct rather than settling and accumulating.
