When a boiler manufacturer in Bettendorf, Iowa, needed heavy-duty industrial platforms and handrails they wanted a fabricator who could handle multiple configurations, meet safety regulations, hold tight tolerances, and deliver on schedule.
Using A36 carbon steel, Southern Metal Fabricators custom fabricated two units each of four different platform designs, eight platforms in total. Managing four distinct designs simultaneously, each requiring consistent dimensional accuracy across two identical units, is a production discipline challenge as much as a fabrication one.
Before any platform shipped, Southern Metal Fabricators pre-assembled and test-fit each one in-shop to confirm everything aligned to spec. The finished platforms were coated with prime and enamel for corrosion protection suited to the demanding thermal and humidity environment of the boiler manufacturer. From receipt of approval drawings to delivery, the entire eight-platform project was completed and shipped within eight weeks — a timeline that kept our customer on schedule for their own production commitments.
